You choose a sports car not only for the route, but also for the forecast
Weather can completely change the experience of a rented car. A roadster with the roof down can be the ideal choice for a relaxed drive in temperatures of around 20°C, but the same model in heavy rain, strong winds or 30-degree heat will not make the most of its greatest advantage. A coupe or premium SUV, which may seem less impressive in perfect summer weather, can provide significantly more comfort when conditions become unpredictable.
That is why choosing a sports car should not be based solely on power, appearance and acceleration. The time of year, the length of the route, the nature of the roads and how much time you plan to spend behind the wheel are equally important. You need a different car for an evening drive for two at sunset than for a several-hour motorway journey in full sunshine. An autumn trip is different again, when one day can bring cold, rain and dry stretches of road.
The range FaziCars includes models suited to each of these scenarios. The Mercedes SL63 AMG, BMW M4 Cabrio and Lamborghini Huracán Evo Spyder best demonstrate how much excitement driving with the roof down can provide. The Porsche 911 Carrera 4S, Mercedes-AMG GT 63 and McLaren GT retain a sporty character while offering greater protection from the weather. Meanwhile, the Audi RSQ8, Porsche Cayenne GTS and BMW X6M Competition provide more composure, space and predictability when conditions on the road are more challenging.
The best choice will therefore not always be the most spectacular in photos. Above all, it should suit the actual conditions of the trip. Sometimes a roadster will turn an ordinary route into the main attraction of the weekend. At other times, a closed coupe will let you enjoy performance without tiring from heat, noise and wind. When the forecast is uncertain, a powerful premium SUV may prove to be the most satisfying solution.
The ideal window for a roadster – when the open roof really transforms the trip ☀️
A roadster offers the most enjoyment not when the thermometer shows the highest temperature, but when conditions truly allow you to make use of the open roof. The best days are usually those with temperatures of around 18–25°C, without heavy rain or strong winds. In these conditions, driving is not tiring, the sun does not overheat the cabin, and the sound of the engine and connection with the surroundings become a natural part of the entire journey.
The type of road is also important. A roadster is best suited to scenic routes, back roads, mountain drives, coastal stretches and relaxed evening drives through the city. A several-hour motorway journey at high speed does not always allow you to make the most of its greatest advantages. With constant wind noise and intense sunlight, the open roof can eventually become more tiring than enjoyable.
From the FaziCars fleet, the most comfortable choice for such a trip will be Mercedes SL63 AMG at a price of PLN 3,000 per day. With 585 hp, a luxurious interior and an open body, it combines excitement with comfort for a weekend away for two. It is not a raw car intended solely for short drives. It can comfortably cover a longer route and then make full use of the open roof on more scenic stretches.
A slightly calmer, yet still very powerful alternative is Mercedes SL55 AMG at PLN 2,200 per day. It is an option for those who want to retain the character of a luxury roadster but do not need the most extreme version. In turn, BMW M4 Cabrio at a price of PLN 1,590 per day will be more versatile. It combines 530 hp, xDrive and a sporty character with a car that is easier to use on an ordinary weekend route as well.
At the other end of the scale is the Lamborghini Huracán Evo Spyder at PLN 6,000 per day. Here, the weather matters even more, as the car is rented primarily for the intensity of the experience itself. With dry roads, good visibility and moderate temperatures, the open Huracán can turn even a short drive into an event. However, if the forecast predicts rain for most of the weekend, choosing such a car loses some of its appeal.
The best time for a roadster is therefore not necessarily the middle of a hot summer. A sunny spring day, a warm September weekend or a summer evening often works much better, when the temperature drops, traffic is lighter and the route itself can be enjoyed without rushing. That is when the open roof stops being merely an eye-catching extra and begins to genuinely transform the character of the entire trip.
Sunshine does not always mean a roadster – when is a coupe better?
Clear skies can be a compelling reason to choose a car with an open roof, but sunshine alone does not guarantee ideal conditions for a roadster. At temperatures above 28–30°C, in strong sunlight and on a journey lasting several hours, an open cabin can quickly stop being enjoyable. Instead of relaxed driving, you get overheating, fatigue from the noise and the need to use the air conditioning constantly. In such conditions, a well-insulated coupe often delivers more genuine comfort without taking away from the sporting experience.
A coupe is also the more sensible choice for a longer motorway journey. The closed body offers better insulation from wind noise, intense sunlight and sudden changes in temperature. As a result, after two or three hours behind the wheel, the driver can still focus on driving instead of battling the conditions inside the cabin. This is especially important for business trips, longer weekend getaways and routes where the aim is to reach the destination quickly rather than simply enjoy a recreational drive.
A good example from the FaziCars fleet is Porsche 911 Carrera 4S at a price of PLN 1,790 per day. The model offers 450 hp, all-wheel drive and acceleration to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. It retains a highly sporty character, while the closed cabin allows you to enjoy the car regardless of intense sunlight, gusts of wind or a sudden drop in temperature. It is a smart choice for a longer weekend when the weather looks good but the itinerary includes many kilometres.
An even more comfortable character is offered by Mercedes-AMG GT 63 at PLN 3,000 per day. With 585 hp, 800 Nm and acceleration to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, it delivers plenty of excitement, but the overall experience is more composed than in an open roadster. The AMG GT 63 is well suited to those who want to combine a fast coupe with a luxurious interior and greater peace of mind on longer drives.
For a special weekend, you can also choose the Audi R8 Quattro at PLN 3,500 per day or McLaren GT at PLN 3,800 per day. Both models offer exotic performance and a very strong visual impact, but the closed body better shields you from heat and noise. The McLaren GT is also an interesting option for a longer drive, as it was designed from the outset as a supercar with a more touring-oriented character.
However, you do not always have to choose the most eye-catching coupe. Mercedes CLE53 AMG at a price of PLN 1,590 per day offers 443 hp, four seats and a much more versatile character. It is a good choice when the weather is sunny, but the trip includes motorways, luggage and several hours of travel. The car still looks sporty and distinguished, yet it requires fewer compromises than a typical exotic car.
A coupe is therefore worth choosing when you want to retain the excitement of a sports car without making the comfort of the entire trip dependent on temperature, wind and the intensity of the sun. A roadster makes the most of perfect weather. A coupe, on the other hand, lets you enjoy the route even when summer starts to become too hot and the open roof is more of a hindrance than a benefit.
Rain, cold and changeable weather – when does a premium SUV offer the greatest peace of mind? 🌧️
When the forecast calls for rain, falling temperatures and frequent changes in conditions, a premium SUV stops being a cautious backup plan. It becomes a deliberate choice that lets you get through the entire weekend without constantly checking weather radar or wondering whether the car you chose still suits your plans. A higher driving position, four-wheel drive, more space and greater practicality are especially advantageous when the route includes wet roads, poorer surfaces, luggage and several passengers.
Greater confidence does not mean a lack of excitement
Today’s premium SUVs can offer performance comparable to sports cars. A good example is Audi RSQ8 available from FaziCars for PLN 1,790 per day. The model develops 600 hp and 800 Nm, accelerating to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. At the same time, it offers five seats and significantly greater freedom of use than a classic coupe. It is a good choice for a weekend during which the weather may change several times, while you still want a very powerful car.
A similar level of versatility is offered by Porsche Cayenne GTS, also priced at PLN 1,790 per day. It has 474 hp, 620 Nm and accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. It is not as visually aggressive as some competitors, making it a good fit for people who want to combine a sporty character with more understated styling. The Cayenne GTS will perform equally well on a wet motorway and on a winding road leading to a mountain hotel.
When the car needs to make a stronger impression
A more distinctive option is BMW X6M Competition at PLN 1,790 per day. With 625 hp, 750 Nm and a 0–100 km/h time of 3.7 seconds, the trip still has a highly sporty character even with the roof closed and in poor weather. The X6M is best suited to a driver who wants to combine SUV practicality with aggressive styling and a strong image.
An even greater impact is delivered by Lamborghini Urus at PLN 3,800 per day. That means 650 hp, 850 Nm and 3.6 seconds to 100 km/h, along with five seats and the dimensions of a large SUV. The Urus can therefore handle unpredictable weather much better than a typical supercar. It is not, however, the most discreet choice. It is worth choosing when a strong presence on the road is part of the plan rather than an accidental extra.
A more sensible choice for a longer, cooler journey
Not every trip requires 600 hp. In rain, temperatures below approximately 12–15°C and on journeys lasting several hours, Audi SQ7 or BMW X5 M50d, available from FaziCars for PLN 600 per day. The Audi offers 435 hp, 900 Nm and seven seats, while the BMW has 400 hp, 760 Nm and a five-seat interior. Both models are fast, comfortable and considerably more cost-effective than the fleet’s most extreme SUVs.
A premium SUV is therefore worth choosing not only in winter. It makes the most sense whenever the weather may change during the trip and the car needs to remain comfortable regardless of rain, cold and the amount of luggage. A roadster can deliver more excitement in ideal conditions. A coupe retains its sporty character in hot weather and on longer journeys. A premium SUV, meanwhile, offers the greatest certainty that the weather will not take control of the entire weekend.
Weather table – choose a car in seconds
The weather should not be the only criterion when choosing a car, but it can quickly rule out models that will not reach their full potential in given conditions. The table below lets you compare the forecast with the type of route and choose a car from the FaziCars fleet without relying solely on appearance.
| Travel conditions | Best car type | FaziCars recommended models | Daily rate | Why does this choice make sense? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 18–25°C, dry, light wind | roadster / convertible | Mercedes SL63 AMG, Mercedes SL55 AMG, BMW M4 Cabrio | PLN 1,590–3,000 | the open roof enhances the experience of the route, while the temperature prevents rapid fatigue |
| Perfect weather and a special occasion | exotic roadster | Lamborghini Huracán Evo Spyder | PLN 6,000 | the most intense experience possible when the drive itself is the main attraction |
| 28–32°C and a long motorway drive | coupe or comfortable GT | Mercedes CLE53 AMG, Porsche 911 Carrera 4S, Mercedes-AMG GT 63 | PLN 1,590–3,000 | the closed cabin protects against heat, noise and intense sunlight |
| Cool but dry | coupe or luxury roadster | Audi R8 Quattro, McLaren GT, Mercedes SL63 AMG | PLN 3000–3800 | you can keep the sporty excitement and, in a roadster, close the roof if necessary |
| Passing showers and a changing forecast | Premium SUV | Audi RSQ8, Porsche Cayenne GTS, BMW X6M Competition | PLN 1,790 | more space, four-wheel drive and less dependence on the weather |
| Cold, rain and a long journey | comfortable SUV | Audi SQ7, BMW X5 M50d | PLN 600 | powerful diesel engines, high torque and greater comfort during many hours of driving |
| Winter or more challenging conditions | large premium SUV | Audi RSQ8, Porsche Cayenne GTS, Lamborghini Urus | PLN 1790–3800 | more confident handling, more space and greater functionality throughout the trip |
The riskiest choice is to reserve a car solely on the basis of an optimistic forecast. If a sunny weekend is forecast, but the risk of precipitation and a sharp drop in temperature is still present several days beforehand, a coupé or premium SUV may offer more freedom than a roadster. The car will still be fast and impressive, but its greatest advantages will not disappear after the first change in the weather.
It is also worth considering the length of the route. For a short, recreational drive, you can afford a more emotional choice. On a journey of several hundred kilometres, differences in soundproofing, protection from the sun and space become much more important. Therefore, the same warm day may be ideal for an SL63 AMG on an evening drive, but the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 or Porsche 911 Carrera 4S may be a better choice for an all-day motorway journey.
The comparison above does not mean that a roadster is suitable only for perfect summer weather, or that an SUV is only for rain. Rather, it shows the conditions in which each type of car provides the greatest real enjoyment. A good choice should take into account the forecast, the route, the number of passengers and whether the car is to be the main attraction or a comfortable part of the whole weekend.
The forecast is uncertain – how do you choose a car without risking a ruined weekend?
Uncertain weather does not mean you have to give up on a sports car. You simply need to choose a model whose greatest advantages will not disappear after the first rain or sudden drop in temperature. The greatest risk arises when the entire trip is based on driving with the roof down while the forecast is still changing from day to day.
If stable, dry weather is expected and the route is to follow scenic roads, a roadster will be the most exhilarating choice. Mercedes SL63 AMG, Mercedes SL55 AMG or BMW M4 Cabrio will let you make the most of the open roof while still providing an enclosed, comfortable cabin if conditions worsen. A more exotic Lamborghini Huracán Evo Spyder should be chosen when the forecast is genuinely good and the drive itself is to be the main highlight of the day.
If hot weather or several hours of motorway driving is forecast, a coupé will be the safer solution. Porsche 911 Carrera 4S, Mercedes-AMG GT 63 or Mercedes CLE53 AMG still deliver a very sporty experience, but allow you to manage temperature and fatigue more effectively during a long journey. This is the choice for people who do not want the enjoyment of their rental to depend on whether it is possible to drive with the roof down all day.
If the forecast predicts a mix of sunshine, rain and cold, a premium SUV will be the best option. Audi RSQ8, Porsche Cayenne GTS or BMW X6M Competition will preserve the trip's powerful character while offering greater flexibility with luggage, passengers and a less predictable route. For a longer trip, you can also choose Audi SQ7 or BMW X5 M50d, which offer high torque, comfort and a considerably more reasonable daily rate.
It is worth remembering that when renting for a specific weekend, it is not always worth waiting to make a reservation until the forecast is completely certain. The most interesting models may already be booked by then. A better solution is to define your plans in advance and choose a car that will still make sense if conditions change slightly.
W FaziCars you can choose a car based on the dates, route, number of passengers and expected weather. This means you do not have to choose between excitement and common sense. Simply decide whether the priority is an open roof, focused sporty handling or maximum freedom regardless of the forecast.
